Increase the Distance of Your Tee Shots

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The answer to both of these questions simply requires a quick look at the biomechanics of hitting the driver. Basically, the driver is the longest club in the bag, requiring you to draw it upon a long arc with little room for error. It necessitates maintaining the correct swing plane throughout with the correct sequencing, timing, and tempo. Error in any of these categories will cause difficulty at impact resulting in miss-hits and a loss of distance.

We are also aware from previous articles the connection that exists between your body and the mechanics of the golf swing. Stated previously it is your body executing the mechanics of the golf swing, and if your body lacks the flexibility, balance, strength, or power to execute the mechanics of the golf swing correctly, compensations will occur, driver included.

To provide you the opportunity to increase the accuracy and distance of your tee shots, we can utilize golf fitness exercises to develop these physical parameters within your body. Through my experiences I have found the areas requiring the most attention as it relates to hitting driver are flexibility, strength, and power. The development of these physical parameters within your body can assist you in executing the mechanics required of this club.

We will begin this process with developing your flexibility parameters. Basically, your body must have the flexibility within it to draw the club on the long arc required of the driver. If it does not, changes within the swing plane are most likely to occur. We can guard against such occurrences with the implementation of flexibility exercises to develop this parameter within your body. Over time this will assist you in drawing the driver through the long range of motion required of this club.

Remember your body is responsible for executing the biomechanics of the golf swing, driver included. Flexibility is one requirement of the body in the execution of these mechanics.

Golf Scoring

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Whether you are a golfer, a golf watcher or someone looking to start playing or watching the game, golf scoring is something to learn. It will help to ensure you always understand what those graphics on your TV are and who really won the round, you or your friend. Even if you are only a casual mini-golfer, knowing how to score a round of golf will come in handy.

The object of the game of golf is to achieve the lowest score. Sounds backwards, but when you learn how golf scoring is achieved, it will make sense. Every shot you take is a point or a stroke. The object is to get your ball in the hole in fewer shots than your opponent. When you tee off, that is your first stroke and every time you hit the ball after that you count it as another stroke. Each score card will have a spot for each hole number and the names of the players. Place the number of strokes next to the persons name and under the number of the hole.

But how do you know if you’re doing well? In golf scoring, each hole has a “par”. This is the number of strokes that it should take you to get the ball in the hole. A popular type of golf course for beginners is a “par three” course. On these courses, each hole is a par three. These holes are generally short, so teeing off should get you near the green if you’re good. Other courses, including the professional courses will have a variety of par’s ranging from 3’s to 5’s. Use the par total at the end of the round to see how many shots over or under the recommended strokes you were.

In golf scoring, there are words used to describe the number of strokes taken on each hole. The first, as we have already covered, is “par”. This is the word you use if you achieved the recommended strokes on the hole. Additionally, going one over the par is called a “bogey”. Two over is a “double bogey” and so one. If you are able to get one under par, then it is a “birdie”. Two under is an “Eagle”, and three under, if you’re that lucky or good, is called a “Double Eagle” or sometimes an “Albatross”.

Womens golf clothing is essential to the overall atmosphere of the game. The Beginning Golfer – 3 Putting Styles

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Beginning golfers fast become infatuated with putting and putting styles. The practice green is a fun place to practice because it offers tangible results. It also provides the easiest venue to reduce strokes. If a player can putt well, that player is always a threat and will compete for a long time. Opponents always fear a great putter. All golfers notice a smooth, consistent putting style and routine.

There are three basic putting strokes. Phil Mickelson uses a longer takeaway and a long follow through. This style is geared for a smooth roll. Gary Player uses a quicker stroke. His style almost seems abrupt. The takeaway is shorter as is the follow through. The focus with this style putting is keeping the stroke compact. This helps to maintain the integrity of the target line. Player’s quick stroke putting style requires a firm strike. A third style of putting is employed by Tiger Woods and was used by Jack Nicklaus. This style requires a firm stroke with a firm grip. The takeaway is short, the finish long. Due to the short takeaway, the impact must drive the ball down the target line. The beginning golfer needs to determine his own putting personality. Take these three putting principles to the putting green and try them on. It may be more productive to sample one style at a time. Spend a day working on each stroke. Make 10 short putts in a row. Gradually extend your distance. Finally sample some long putts.

The beginning golfer needs to have confidence that every four foot putt is automatic. If one of these styles does not generate that confidence, eliminate it. Equally important is the confidence that we can get our thirty foot putts within a three foot radius. Whichever style our beginning golfer chooses, the posture and balance must be maintained and the blade must be square at impact.

Start here, read more great golf tips and you’ll be on your way to putting to a much lower score. Guaranteed!

Mizuno Women’s Solid Compression Short G3

Mizuno Women’s Solid Compression Short G3 These are just what I needed. They have lots of very forgiving stretch without being the slightest bit loose, so they fit really well. I got both medium and large, and both sizes work fine for me. I would say the fit is true. Length hits lower thigh (great for tall people), and the leg elastic doesn’t dig in. SO comfortable and flattering. The only thing is they are high-waisted, so if you’re looking to show your belly, these aren’t the shorts for you. But I love them! Mizuno:

Running For Beginners – How to Build Up to 30 Minutes of Running

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Are you looking to take up running lose weight, increase your fitness or manage stress, but don’t know exactly how you should start? Fortunately, you don’t have to start running full speed the first day only to wear yourself out and give up all together. With a little patience and some time you can be a runner in no time and have the body to prove it! I have outlined a beginners plan to help kick start your inner runner! Each week you will increase the amount of time that you are actually running and within a matter of weeks you will be up to thirty minutes.

Week 1

Before every run you will need to warm up at a comfortable pace to get your muscles ready. Begin with a warm-up for 5 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. Start out going 3.5-4.0 mph on a treadmill. Next you will alternate 4 minutes of walking with 1 minute of jogging (5 mph). Do this for 30 minutes.

Cool down with 5 minutes of walking. At the end of your cool down also do some stretching to help elongate your muscles and give them the break and stretch they deserve. Total Time: 40 minutes

Week 2

Again you will need to warm-up for 5 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. Start out going 3.5-4.0 mph on a treadmill.

Each week increase your jogging minutes and decrease your walking minutes.

So week two you may do 3 minutes of walking alternated with 2 minutes of jogging. Do this for 30 minutes.

Cool down with 5 minutes of walking. Remember to stretch those muscles!

Week 3

Begin with a warm-up for 5 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. Start out going 3.5-4.0 mph on a treadmill.

The third week you can continue to do same intervals as week two to help build up your endurance.

Cool down with 5 minutes of walking.

Week 4

Begin with a warm-up for 5 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. Start out going 3.5-4.0 mph on a treadmill.

You will be walking 2 minutes and alternate with 3 minutes of jogging for 30 minutes.

Cool down with 5 minutes of walking.

Week 5

Begin with a warm-up for 5 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. Start out going 3.5-4.0 mph on a treadmill.

You will be walking 1 minute and alternating with 4 minutes of jogging.

Cool down with 5 minutes of walking.

Week 6

Begin with a warm-up for 5 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. Jog for 30 minutes straight at 5.0 mph on a treadmill.

Cool down with 5 minutes of walking. You are officially a runner! Great Job!

If you feel you need to repeat a week two times in a row, by all means go ahead! Do not rush yourself. If you push yourself too hard you can get injured and you will have to start all over. Make sure to give yourself off days in between your runs as well. Your body needs the recovery time. On your days that you do not run you can incorporate some weight training to build muscle and or cross train with other activities such as biking or swimming.
